Doilies

Last week my granny gave a collection of doilies to my mom. Mother offered some to me, as well.Granny wove these.
These were made by either my great-grandmother...or a neighbor! (Grrr, I wish I knew which ones were which! Stuff like that drives me crazy!) Some of the doilies had stains, so I decided to try tea-staining them.

I rinsed them first, as per the directions.

Then I heated them in about 6 cups of water. When the water boiled, I added 6 tea bags, and let it steep, stirring occasionally.

I'm a Nervous Nellie, and I was afraid I would leave them too long, so I set my trusty timer.

Next I rinsed them with some dish detergent, to wash off the acid from the tea.

"Oh, it's dryin' time again..." (With apologies to Louis Armstrong!)

They're beautiful!
