Strawberries

My dad's cousin is a farmer. He raises primarily peaches and strawberries. Love that man! :-) Every time anyone goes "to the country," we always come back with tons of fruit! They won't let you say no, but who wants to?
Ripe on the vine, yum! (Not what you get in stores, believe me!) So sweet and juicy! Gotta' prep them fast, though!

At the end of the season, they throw all of the strawberry plants away, including whatever strawberries haven't been harvested. Guess what that means for the city-slicker relatives? (We've tried to pay them, honestly, it's just not happening!)

My "Aunt" Virginia (it's a southern thing) has come up with lots of ways to use fruit!
My aunt's super-easy "shortcake" recipe:
Bake yellow cake mix
Slice fresh strawberries and mix with strawberry gel
Layer cake, strawberry mixture & cool whip.
Delish!

You are SO blessed!
We have to pay for our strawberries 'round here.
Those look scrumptious as we are HUGE fans of those red berries!
Did you eat them all fresh, or did you make jam and things with them?
Happy Mother's Day!

Mostly fresh, with some frozen for smoothies, pies, over ice cream & etc!
