I am blessed with a wonderful mother-in-law. She's had to put up with me for the last 9yrs, all because she raised a wonderful son! (Life's just not fair, is it?! ;-) Last week, she was able to drop in for a day. We were so excited to see her. I put fresh, clean sheets on her bed and sprayed them with linen spray. (Thanks, Jenness!) I set up a room for her (we're in the process of moving into our addition) and quickly added some decorations. I cleaned, I fluffed, I prepared. I bought her favorite mints, and put them in a basket. I cut fresh flowers and arranged them in a vase. I put out candles to welcome her....
It had been a long week, for a variety of reasons. Daniel and I were so tired! He decided to relax on the bed with his laptop until she arrived. I decided to lay down with him.
At 1 o'clock, I couldn't believe she still wasn't here! I decided to light the candles in her room, so it would be all ready for her. I opened the door, flipped on the light...and screamed! She was in the bed! The poor woman had arrived at 11:30pm. She knocked, then came on in, calling for us. We heard nothing. The dogs didn't even bark! Then she tried to find where she should sleep. She tried the basement bedroom; augh! no way! (Messy just doesn't do it justice...) Okay, maybe a couch? Hmm, no sheets. Finally she found a bed in the front room, and bless her, just went on to sleep. Until I scared her to death at 1am!

How funny!
And how strange that the dogs didn't even alert you!
I hope you are having a wonderful visit with her this week!
Hugs!

Hilarious! That's a memory you won't live down for awhile, I'd say! :-)
Well, this will be a visit she can remember for awhile and so can you! Such a funny memory for you both and of course she still loves you, who wouldn't after all the screaming was over:).
Granddogs don't alert parents by the way:).
