Easy Street

So my mom calls me.  "Want to go to Bargains on the Bluff?"  I knew it would be fun to go with her, so I said "sure."  We planned to leave at 9.
6:45- Madelyn Rose is delivered to my doorstep and promptly buckled into the car.
7:15- We pick up Seth, drop off Daniel, and head home.
8:00- I feed Madelyn Rose her breakfast.  (A nutritious bowl of Lucky Charms, but the off-brand.)  She has a great time picking out the marshmallows.  Then she dumps the bowl on the highchair tray, and gleefully scatters them with her hands.  I feed Seth his breakfast bottle, sweep the kitchen floor (lots of cereal...), dress myself, dress Madelyn Rose, pack a bag to take.  Fix Madelyn's hair for the 5th time.  (She likes to take out her hairbows...they're still MIA.)
8:45- Mom calls and asks if I still want to go, since it's cloudy outside.  I've been going non-stop to make this possible.  Through gritted teeth I say yes.
9:00- We drive the exact same route I'd taken earlier to pick up Seth/drop off Daniel.  And we arrive at the church.  The signs say to go to the back, so we park.
Guess what?  That was the "front."  Who knew?  By now, I'm wearing Seth & Maddy is in the stroller.  I tell Mom to just bring the car around, I'll meet her at the door.  1/4 mile later, I get to the steps.  No ramp.  I push the stroller up a grassy hill, hoping against hope that I don't fall, squash Seth, or tip the stroller!  Did I mention it was freezing?  The wind whipped off the blanket that was covering Seth.  Standing on a rather steep sidewalk, bracing the stroller with one leg (brake doesn't work), holding Seth, and bending to retrieve the blanket.  Who needs yoga?
We finally meet Mom at the door, and head in.  To the vastly overcrowded gymnasium.  Oops, their air went out, so it's 105 degrees.  And Seth's hungry.  I feed him his bottle, while trying to keep MR entertained, and stay out of the way of other shoppers.  We are having some fun now!  And Madelyn gets sleepy...
After trying to look at a few items, I decide that the better part of wisdom is to just get in line.  15 minutes later, Mom walks up to me and suggests that we get in line.  At this point, I'm holding both children (approx. 50 lbs), and pushing an empty stroller.  We decide that I'll just head out with the kids while Mom pays.  About 30 minutes later, she emerges.  We head home with our $25 worth of bargains.  So not worth it!
At home we have a pretty uneventful day, wherein I work like an idiot to maintain status quo.  (Food, diapers, naps...I think I folded a sock.  Maybe.)  Both babies are fed, changed, and in their right minds.  (Me on the other hand...)  My dreams for a nap are shattered, when Seth uncharacteristically stays awake...until Madelyn wakes up!  (They're tag-teaming me!)
Then it's 2:45- time to pick up the boys from school.  I load the kids in the car.  I notice that Madelyn has taken off her diaper that I put on her 2 minutes before.  I change her in the garage, and we drive to Pell City.  I pick up Patrick from nap, then get Jerrel.  As I drive off campus, I see Mother's car.  As in, Mother, with whom I am leaving Krista's children while I take Seth to his dad.  In Pell City.  Not at home.  After discussion, she says she can just take them with her.  Oh, so that's why I drove an hour!
I zoom home, just in time to change for that night's dinner out with friends.  I had approx. 10 min.  At 4 o-clock, Seth woke up needing to be changed and have a bottle.  At 4:15, we left.  (I still don't know exactly how that worked out!)
After dropping Seth off, I headed to pick up Daniel, feeling confident that I had plenty of time.  My 15 minute trip turned into an hour.  So much for extra time!  I gave Daniel his clothes that I had packed, and we headed to meet our friends.  Just another relaxing day.  Good thing I don't have a "real" or "full-time" job!  ;-)

Wow, and that is all that you got accomplished in one day, sheesh what a slacker you are:). I was tired after the first paragraph!:). The other day I heard someone say to a stay at home mother that they couldn't believe she didn't have more time to do things, if I had been the mother, I would have ran over her feet with the stroller, but then that is just me:). ( it was the girl's mom in law) Stay at home mom's and nanny's should wear capes as far as I am concerned they work harder than anyone outside ever considered working, how I ever did all of it now I will never know:). Hugs sweet girl, love you!
