Lessons for a Choleric

Our God is so good. As a choleric, I'm a "fixer." Some part of me thinks that if I work hard enough, think things over, do enough, I can make everything all right. Guess what? It doesn't always work! So I end up pretty frustrated sometimes, questioning myself, asking "what else should I do?" I think the answer right now is "nothing." God is so faithful to remind me that He is the one responsible. The other day I read: "Success is really not your responsibility. You're called to do what God asks...leave the outcome to Him!" (Emilie Barnes) Then today, I popped in a CD, only to hear Donnie McClurken sing "...when you've done all you can, just stand..." Got it, God. Thanks for being in control. I'm pretty sure you'll do a better job than I!

One time my boss sent a note to one of my co-workers. It looked something like this:

Dear [Co-worker's name]:

Please do not feel like you have to take care of everything yourself. Relax a little. I have it under control.

Love, God.

I thought that was pretty cool and a good reminder.

Our Father is so great! He has to remind me of things frequently too!
