The Birds

Last Wednesday night, Leonard, the boys & I were sitting in the van, patiently (okay, not patiently) waiting for Krista to return with our doughnuts. After a long wait, I went inside to see what was keeping her. Mom was in the den, deciding whether or not to go to the ER. (Another story...) Dad & Krista were chasing a bird around, trying to get it out the door. I joined the fray, waving & "helping." Very soon the bird flew outside. Victory! I walked into the kitchen to look for the doughnuts, and saw another bird! This one flew to the top of the bookcases, the piano, the attic, and back. It finally just stopped flying. After leaving a "trail" around the house, it passed away sometime Friday. I took in my wonder dogs to sniff it out, and they soon found the little body. I'm now calling them service dogs. We didn't get any doughnuts.

Yes, she's fine now, just recovering her strength. She felt "punk" for about two weeks, and ran a fever for almost a week. Her doc ran all sorts of tests, but we don't know an official diagnosis yet. They suspect a tic bite. It's been really unusual to see her "under-the-weather" for so long. Now we're just trying to keep her from doing too much while she gets her strength back; not easy with Mother!
