My Tree

The trees are God's great alphabet:
With them he writes in shining green
Across the world His thoughts serene.
~Leonora Speyer
Of all the wonders of nature, a tree in summer is perhaps the most remarkable; with the possible exception of a moose singing "Embraceable You" in spats. ~Woody Allen

For in the true nature of things, if we rightly consider, every green tree is far more glorious than if it were made of gold and silver. ~Martin Luther

I wanted to share my wonderful oak tree with you. We almost lost it a few years ago, but the arborist said it just needed water. Dad & Daniel dug a trench around the drip line, and buried a soaker hose. It's been great ever since! Each year it grows several feet larger; I wonder how large it will become?! I think it's about 120 years old.

I just love grand old trees!
Our backyard has about 150 trees, and we are in a subdivision! We forbid the developers to take out our trees. I don't think we have a tree as old as your on our land, but we sure do love the canopy the tress give.
I also loved the quotes you added to the post!
Beautiful.
Blessings to you!

Trees

I THINK that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.

A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the sweet earth's flowing breast;

A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;

A tree that may in summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;

Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.

Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.

by Joyce Kilmer

Couldn't help but think of this poem when I saw your pictures. I'm pretty sure I had to memorize this in school at some point.
Anyway, Love the poem, love the tree!

Wow, Lisa, that's beautiful! Thanks for sharing! I've only heard the first phrase until now.
